Coptic and Islamic Cairo citadel tour

In the morning, our tour guide will meet you at the hotel in Cairo or Giza to enjoy your Cairo day tours which start every day. Start your Coptic and Islamic Cairo Tour by visiting the Saladin Citadel and the Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali from the inside, which was the seat of Egypt's rulers for many centuries. The Citadel of Saladin was built around 1176 A.D by the famous Muslim leader Salah Al-Din. It represents Ottoman architecture in Cairo since the design is copied from the famous Blue Mosque of Sultan Ahmed in Istanbul. You will be transferred to another ancient site in the city to visit an Islamic complex called by historians the pyramid of Islamic architecture in Cairo, the Mamluk mosque and Madrasas of Sultan Hassan, and the mosque of Ibn Tulun the oldest standing mosque in Africa built over one thousand years ago. Your tour guide and driver will take you to visit Coptic Cairo. You will start sightseeing in the Coptic district of Cairo to see an Old Roman fortress built by Emperor Trajan, the Roman fortress of Babylon. Move to the Hanging Church which is built above the ruins of the fortress. We will also take you to the Church of Abu Serga, which is built above the cavern of the Holy Family, as well as the Old Cairo synagogue also known as Ben Ezra Synagogue which has an exciting history as one of the oldest synagogues in Cairo. Learn more about Coptic Cairo with your guide, and then you will stop for delicious lunch in Old Cairo. After lunch, continue driving to another part of Islamic Cairo, and you have the chance for shopping tours in Cairo when you visit the oldest bazaar in the Middle East, Khan El Khalili.
